Some Democrats are just as eager as their Republican brethren to let the Lord rule in matters of the state. Take New Jersey Assemblyman Craig Stanley (please), who is gravely concerned over the New Jersey Devils. Oh, the team is doing fine, what with three Stanley Cups in its trophy chest. It's the name that bothers Mr. Stanley. It's kinda, you know, satanic.
"This is an age where symbolism is very important," said Stanley, a Baptist deacon whose resolution to rename the team is to be introduced in the Assembly next month. ... "I've always cringed when people say they're going to see the Devils," said Stanley. "The merchandise, the paraphernalia is based on the actual demonic devil. Personally, it causes a little bit of an issue with me."
Hey, I have "a little bit of an issue" with Mr. Stanley and his ilk, but you don't see me going around introducing preposterous resolutions, do you? [hat tip: Sploid]
Mr. Stanley should be made aware that the team's name is based on the "Jersey Devil" legend, not Lucifer.

Now what sort of politician would let the truth get in the way of a sanctimonious stand on a meaningless issue? I'm sure he could care less if the teams name is based on the "Jersey Devil" legend, the Tasmanian Devil from the Bugs Bunny cartoons or anything else.....
